My iPhone 12 flashlight occasionally turns while I'm holding the phone when the Home (NOT lock) Screen is shown. (By the way, my flashlight app is not on my Home Screen.) I'm. holding the phone with my thumb on the left edge below the volume buttons and my remaining fingers on the right edge below the power button. This occurs randomly, not all the time. Why is this happening?

Thanks. I recall setting that Back Tap feature on not too long ago. I just turned that setting off, so we'll see if the problem resolves. Funny thing, the iPhone is in a plastic case, so I'm surprised it picked up any back tapping at all. Cheers!

I’m not sure if that will answer your question though because it doesn’t address your specific issue. I would wonder if perhaps something in accessibility is creating weird situations? Or could you have a flashlight widget (if there is one) that you are activating?
Go to Settings>Accessibility>Touch>Back Tap and make sure that you don't have Flashlight set as one of the things that can be turned on by tapping the back of the phone.
I hope it helps! I find it's actually pretty sensitive. I have it set to turn on background sounds so I don't have to dig through Settings. And, every week or so, I suddenly realize I can hear the ocean? Yes, I've turned it on accidentally.
