Streaming slideshows from computer to Apple TV

Hi. I am trying to stream my slideshows from my computer to my tv using Apple TV. I found a folder called Home Movies and that does show up on my Apple TV, however when I put slideshow files into that folder, they don't show up on my Apple TV. Any suggestions about where to put my slideshow files in order to see them? Thank you and happy holidays.

What is your model Apple TV? Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support

Streaming home movies requires that the source is a movie file (.mov/.mp4/.m4v), not a bunch of slideshow files. You could export a slideshow as movie, but that wouldn’t be necessary using one of the above.

Hi. Thank you for your answer. My Apple TV is Apple TV 4K (1st generation).

I now have the files in the Home Movies tab on my computer and they show up on the TV in the Home Movies tab. But they won't play. I get an error message: "There's a problem loading this content." It's the same error message for every one of them.

Any suggestions? Thanks again and have a good holiday.

Possibly there is an issue with the file format. How did you export?

What I would do: For a slideshow of photos in movie format: In the Photos app, group your photos into an album, menu File﹥Create﹥Slideshow﹥Photos﹥New slideshow, name. That creates a Project with slideshow configuration. If needed, make changes to photo order, music, and/or duration. Then click the Export button at the top, set a file location, filename, and resolution, then Save. For 8-bit/ch photos (.jpg), that should produce a nice .m4v movie with H.264 video and AAC audio, compatible with Home Sharing and Apple TV. Just tested it again, to write this up.

Thanks for the information. I'm getting closer. I have about 20 previously completed slideshows that I have now exported again. Some of them now show up and are playable. Some of them show a slideshow name but won't play and give a new error message: "The content could not be found on the home share." The computer and apple tv are on the same network so this puzzles me. Any other ideas? Thanks again.

Most of them are m4v format but some are .mov format. It's possible this is because some of them are old files from iPhoto that got moved into Photos when that switch happened. Those I exported again. All the slideshows are in the same folder on my computer. Still, some of them don't show up on the tv, including some that were made in Photos and are m4v format. Interestingly they all play on my computer no matter what file format they are. I have a bunch more that earlier I exported onto iDVD that I can no longer find the files for but then iDVD isn't supported anymore and they don't show up in my collection made in iPhoto (which is where they were made). I know this is a lot but I appreciate your help. What I really don't understand is why some that are on the computer don't show up on the tv. Happy holiday and thanks.
