iCloud Drive not syncing files across devices

Hi Apple Community! We have a couple Macs, iPhones and iPad, all have been updated to the latest operating systems. We are heavy users of iCloud Drive and have enabled Advanced Data Protection. We are multiple users with our own Apple IDs and we share folders on iCloud Drive. Just in the past days we've noticed instances where iCloud Drive files on one device are not up to date. Rebooting the device gets the files to sync, but this is concerning because we might unknowingly be using an old version and even worse end up with data inconsistencies.

Hello mikevit,


Let's use the steps below to temporarily disable Advanced Data Protection:


• iPhone or iPad: In Settings, tap your name, then tap iCloud. Then scroll down and turn off Advanced Data Protection.
• Mac: In System Settings, click your name, then click iCloud. Then click Advanced Data Protection and click Turn Off.


You can also find those steps in this resource: How to turn on Advanced Data Protection for iCloud That will help to isolate this further. Once you've tested that, you can re-enabled that feature.


Should that still persist with that feature disabled, have you had the opportunity to test this behavior with another Wi-Fi network, or using mobile data?


Also, is this only occurring with shared folders?

This is specific to documents in folders that I share with my wife. For each of our iCloud accounts, I turned ADP off/on again. That resolved the issue in that specific instance. I haven't noticed the sync problem occurring again since the fix, but I will keep an eye out for it. No chance to trouble-shoot on another wi-fi network.
