HDMI displayport through USB C adapter doesn't work on Ventura OS for 13" MBP 2020 (Intel based)

My office setup using MBP has always been connected to 2nd monitor via HDMI through Anker USB C adapter (self powered) since I bought it, suddenly it stopped working after Ventura upgrade. The same configuration connected to my wife's MBP which is still on Monterey 12.4 and it's working fine. WHY? is there a way around to get it to work? I have invested so much, in fact, I have bought a brand new USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter from Apple store and it still not working!!

Thanks Barney! I thought if Apple OEM products didn't work on apple products, what does?.. It was definitely something was not right on the OS side itself. Especially both adapters don't work on mine but work fine on my wife's MBP. Also, USB-A works fine on both adapters. It looks like a technical issue with the HDMI displayport somehow has been disabled since the upgrade. It surprises me when I check the serial number in 'tech spec' under 'video support' it is written like this.

Thunderbolt 3 digital video output

  • Native DisplayPort output over USB‑C
  • VGA, HDMI, DVI, and Thunderbolt 2 output supported using adapters (sold separately)

To me since it didn't mention a specific adapter it means any USB C to HDMI adapter should work. Regardless, the fact I bought the OEM from Apple store cost 90 dollars, that doesn't work, blows my mind!

This specific question was asked earlier ( yesterday )and was Taken Down by the Moderators for some reason.

I know because I was part of that very question.

The OEM Multiport Adapter from Apple worked on an Intel Retina MBA running Venture 13.1 and that very same OEM Adapter was used on M1 MBA machine.

The Video and Sound Output to an HD Samsung TV via HDMI worked .

It also worked on both machines to a Asus Display using the same HDMI cable used to the TV.

I am at my friend's house he has a Samsung HD TV which I'd like to connect to USB C decided not to work on me today. I got here this morning, boot-up and waited 2 hours later - normally the adapter appears after several 'sleeps'. Couldn't see the adapter, how am I going to connect without the adapter. What a piece of overpriced junk!

After several reboots, the adapter is working. My thumb drive and wireless mouse are working fine. Unfortunately, HDMI still has no sign of being detected. So I have tried three monitors so far and I concluded a Display connection using HDMI over USB C adapter is not possible.

One last option I would like to try is using a USB C to HDMI cable (Well I have to buy it first), if that doesn't work I'll chuck the MBP in a trashbin and so goes with the rest of my confidence in apple product!
