airdrop to photos directly

On my Mac mini, when I airdrop photos from my iPhone, a window asks if I want airdrops to go to downloads or photos. How do I get this option on MacBook Air? It goes directly into downloads and I have to take the extra step to drag them to photos.

Hey sadie8934,

We see you reviewed this great article How to use AirDrop on your iPhone or iPad. It states AirDrop files will come through within the same app it was sent from.

If you AirDrop something to yourself, like a photo from your iPhone to your Mac, you won't see an option to Accept or Decline—it'll automatically get sent to your device. Just make sure that both devices are signed in with the same Apple ID.

If you still have a concern about how they are received on the Mac mini vs the MacBook Air, these questions may help you get more answers.

  • Are both Mac running the same macOS software?
  • Have you attempted to AirDrop the same file from the same device to both Macs? If so, do you receive the same prompts?

Take care.
