FWIW, in some cases, unpairing the watch, completely erasing it, then pairing and restoring the backup will resolve the battery draining issue after an update. (Simply unpairing and pairing again may not work.)

Also, some people have found that simply waiting a few days after an update resolves the battery draining problem.

Same problem with my watch. I usually charge at night before bed. I wear overnight thru day until 24 hrs later. Rate to get below 20% in that period.

Since this update, watch doesnt even last 12 hours. I started putting on charger again in morning. The last 3 days I took it off charger at 10am and by 7 pm its completely dead. I have not changed any settings from before update. Yesterday I tried reset watch and phone. Same poor performance today.

I have the same problem, but not all the time. Some days it works as it should (more or less) and other days it’s completely drained within a few hours. I have unpaired and erased the watch a few times, but no change. One thing I noticed is that the contact sync is running mad at some times. The storage for contacts in my iPhone is approximately 156 MB, but in the watch it varies from 106 MB to 4.1 GB. And it changes multiple times per day. I don’t know if that is what causing the problem, but it is weird. Anyone else noticed this?

What I've heard is that updates that will not affect battery life in the latest series of iWatches, i.e.series 8 - and that low battery life after one year from sale is a part of the code design integrated into iOS updates.

I'm having the same issue. I have called Apple so many times and have even been sent a replacement. Everyone seems to have problems with it. I don't understand why apple care seems like it is something unheard of when I call about it. Battery lasting only 3-4 hours is ridiculous!

Last update causing watch to switch to low batter mode when the watch has 60-70% life. Then shuts down and come back on 10%. The watch come back to its original battery life after placed on charger. I’ve restarted the watch, reset the watch and even completed a complete reinstall.

I did update 9.3.1 a few days ago and now my Apple Watch Series 5 Battery runs out suddenly after about 10 hrs, I used to charge it every night over night, and it would last 18 hrs. Can one remove update from a watch?

I have an Apple Watch 6 series and I used to get 24 hours after a charge. Now, after 9.3.1 I’m lucky to get 12 hours. Battery health says I have 82% battery life left. I can definitely understand your frustration because mine is through the roof! Apple needs to step up to the plate!!!

someone else suggested restarting both the iPhone and watch together, however this did not change anything.

yes after updated this started and first few days was horrible like 2 hours of battery life now little better …. But not giving the same result after update … I have to charge twice now
