Series 3 won't update to 8.7.1 after several attempts

1. Make sure that your Apple Watch is connecting properly to its charger. 
2. Restart your Apple Watch.
3. Restart your paired iPhone.
4. Try again to update your Apple Watch.

If the update won't start:

1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
2. Tap General > Software Update.
3. Delete the update file.
4. Try again to update your Apple Watch.

We can’t delete the update file because we have had to factory reset it - and there is no update. There is no error message it just loops. Says update successful to Apple watch 6.2.8. Then starts to automatically upgrade to 8.7.1 then says 6.2.8 successful then automatically starts to update for 8.7.1.. cant cancel without unpairing and starting the same cycle of doom.

Same issue here. Why won't Apple make a fix for this?
