Catalina Podcast app - Duplicate Podcast episodes on iPod classic after syncing.

When I sync my iPod Classic to Apple music why does it download multiple versions of the same podcast episode onto the iPod? I routinely delete old Podcast episodes on my MacBook Pro when I don't want them anymore or or have already listened etc. but I keep finding 10-20 versions of the same Podcast episode on my iPod after each fresh sync, rather than just one copy of each episode.

Are there any iPod Classic and Catalina wizards out there who can give me an idea of how I can stop this happening? Any input greatly appreciated.

Try the steps lsited here to see if they resolve the issue: Sync podcasts between your Mac and iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

"Remove automatically synced podcasts from your device

To remove a unwanted podcast from your Mac and device, delete the podcast from your Mac and sync your device.

To remove a podcast from just your device while keeping it on your Mac, follow these steps:

Connect your device to your Mac.
You can connect your device using a USB or USB-C cable or using a Wi-Fi connection. See Sync content between your Mac and iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch over Wi-Fi.
In the Finder on your Mac, select your device in the sidebar, then click Podcasts in the button bar.
In the podcast list, deselect the checkbox of the podcast you want removed.
Sync your Mac with the device."
