Safari 16.2 Notifications from websites have stopped.

Notifications from websites, that prior to updating to Safari 16.2 were being received. The notifications have stopped since the update, MacOs = 12.6.2 (Mac Pro, Late 2013). Validated that the Notifications in the Safari app are all still set to "Allow". Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas for resolutions? Thanks.

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities bluesdoctor,

If you're not seeing notifications you expect, check to see whether there's an active Focus may help:

Add or remove a Focus
1: On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Focus  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
2: Do any of the following on the right:

• Add a provided Focus: Click Add Focus, then click a Focus, such as Gaming or Work.
• Create a custom Focus: Click Add Focus, then click Custom. Enter a name, select a color and icon, then click OK. For example, you might create a Study Focus. You can create up to ten.
• Change a custom Focus: Click a custom Focus in the list. Click the icon to change the name, color, or icon of the Focus.
• Remove a Focus: Click a Focus in the list, then click Delete Focus at the bottom of the window.

A custom Focus is deleted. A provided Focus, such as Reading or Mindfulness, is removed from the list but is still available to add again later.

If you keep Focus up to date across your Apple devices, the changes you make on your Mac are reflected on your other devices.

We hope this helps!

Hello bluesdoctor,

Let's use the steps below to boot your Mac into safe mode to see if that behavior persists from there:

1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window.

You can also find those steps in this resource: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

It can take a few extra minutes to boot into safe mode. Your screen may flash or flicker while in safe mode. Those behaviors are expected. Testing in safe mode runs a check on your disk, removes some cached files, and can help isolate conflicts with startup items. Once you've tested that behavior in safe mode, you can restart to leave safe mode.

Should that still persist, have you had the opportunity to remove the entry for a particular website in the Notifications section of the Safari settings? If so, did that behavior continue after revisiting the website?

Let us know, and we'll keep moving forward from there.

Unfortunately, I do not have any Focus's setup. The notifications broke with Safari 16.0 and I had to do a "Recover" to get back to I think 15.9. They fixed whatever in Safari 16.1 but when I upgraded to Safari 16.2 it was broke again. I wished Apple would provided links to previous releases of Safari so when this happens one could simply revert back to a working release.
