How to check if phone is Blacklisted or stolen

Wanted to buy a second hand iPhone 14 ProMax but want to make sure it’s not Blacklisted or Stolen….how do I do so?

There is no way to know with 100% certainty. In the USA the one and the only reliable source (albeit they admit not 100%) is the database run by the carrier’s trade association (https://www.ctia.org/).


Their lookup tool is here -> https://stolenphonechecker.org/spc/


But note as they say, since it is dependent on owners reporting stolen devices to their carrier, it is not 100% infallible in determining if a used cell phone is stolen property.
