Can I transfer apple credit from a gift card to my Apple Cash?

Apple Gift Cards can be redeemed onto your Apple ID account's balance only. They cannot be added to your Apple Cash account in any way.

I’m really frustrated that the gift card balance was merely added to my account and isn’t something I can actually use in the Apple Store. It seems like a very dark pattern Apple is using here: redeem the card, yes but in a place where it isn’t very useful to me. I can’t use that balance to actually buy anything but software.

You can use your Apple account balance in the Apple Store through the Apple Store app on an Apple device or at the online Apple Store (Apple Store Online - Apple)

You cannot use Apple gift card balance on your Apple account for online purchase of devices. Apple rep says it’s been like this for two weeks. I tried to purchase a cable with 100 dollar balance, payment failed. Apple said try again in a couple of weeks. This is unacceptable Apple. Why would anyone buy Apple gift cards if they can’t use them
