Rules in Apple Mail not running automatically

I set a rule to auto delete mails that are definitely spam and easily identified by coming to me as something from@aol.com which I don't use. When I run the rulte manually, the email deletes, and the rule is #1 in the rules but for some reason the incoming mails from gmail seem to escape the filter.

Any ideas?

If you have a rule checking for incoming emails from "aol", why would you expect them to work on emails coming from "gmail"?

sorry for the confusion. I will edit the original post. It was coming from gmail to aol which I don't have but it fakes a bunch of AOL names like to:

If you are receiving the emails your email address is included in the To, CC, or BCC field. Probably in the BCC field if you do not see your actual email address.
