Websites that don’t work with Safari

I’m increasingly finding websites that aren’t fully compatible with Safari, even those from major consumer brands like Home Depot. I get a pop-up that tells me to switch browsers. Today I tried to access articles from the Wall Street Journal archives (I’m a subscriber) and only the first paragraph is visible on Safari. WSJ Customer Service says they don’t work with Safari. They told me to try Google Chrome and it worked perfectly. What gives? Is Apple concerned about this at all?

Hi MelindaNY,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Re: What gives?

Seems it is the website owners / companies / and their technical staff who choose the browsers that their products / websites / will work with. Some companies will not have IT staff who are perfectly trained in the art of coding for multiple browsers.

Re: Is Apple concerned about this at all?

We are all Apple users, like yourself, in this Community, so we do not know whether Apple staff are concerned about this ... seems there wouldn't be much they could do about companies choosing browsers other than Safari.

If you want, you could send feedback to Apple.

They will likely not reply, yet your feedback will reach those behind the scenes.
