I have a new iMac 24" running OS 13 Ventura, when I right click the trash can and then click on "Empty Trash" nothing happens, I don't get a popup window nor is the trash can emptied.
Anyone know why and / or how to fix

1 - Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.
2 - Safe Mode will also eliminate Third Party Software, extensions and drivers from loading
3 - Does the issue present in this mode ?
4 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.
5 - Still issues Terminal command killall Dock which will reset the dock

I shutdown the iMac, let it set for 10 mins, rebooted and now trash works, should have done that first, sorry for having to get you involved, Will reboot in the future first...

Cmd+del does nothing, When I do shift+cmd+del I get the popup window, When I have safari window open, no popup window, if i minimize all window, and then Shift+cmd+del get popup and when I click on empty trash it works. Right clicking with all windows minimized does nothing

What happens if you use the Empty Trash command, cmd-delete?

No. I would have said so if it did.
It was a weird problem. I don’t think I would have been able to offer anything more than that.
