Apple Home Automation not working on user-specific instruction

Since updated to iOS16 and tvOS16, user-specific automation is not working. In my case, it works without any problems "When the First Person Arrives Home" - "Only at night".

However, all the user-specific automations (e.g. "When I Arrive Home"-"Only at night" or "When XX@xx.com Arrives Home"-"Only at night") are not working.

I tried the following but can't be resolved.

  • Updated all of my iOS devices and Apple TV to the latest version (iOS16.2 and tvOS16.2)
  • Deleted the automations and re-create again
  • Checked the "Location Services" and "Shared My Location" on my iOS devices are "On", checked "While Using the App" and "Precision Location" is "On" for location services setting in "Home" App

Hello AppleFan0126,

The steps here may be able to help out with automations in the Home app: Create scenes and automations with the Home app

Create an automation based on who’s home
Automate your accessories and scenes to turn on or off when you or a shared user arrives or leaves your home.
To create an automation triggered by location, you and the people you invite to control your home need to turn on Share My Location for the primary iPhone or iPad2 used to control your home. Go to Settings > [your name] > Find My and turn on Share My Location. Make sure that "This Device" is selected next to My Location.

1. In the Home app, tap or click the Add button , then select Add Automation .
Choose if you want the automation to occur when People Arrive or when People Leave your home.
2. To choose a specific person to start the automation, tap or click Information . You can also choose a location3 and time for the automation. Then tap or click Next.
3. Select scenes and accessories to automate, then tap or click Next.
4. To adjust an accessory on iPhone or iPad, touch and hold it. On Mac, click the accessory. To preview the automation, tap or click Test This Automation.
5. Tap or click Done

Here are some settings to check on as well:

People Arrive or Leave: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Home is set to While Using. Settings > Accounts > iCloud > Share My Location > From should be set to This Device.

Also double-check that there aren't conflicting or duplicate rule sets set up for the automations.

Cheers.
