Screen time / blocking a site

Hi their , even when I set restrictions on my iPhone to block adult sites , it’s still giving the option to allow the site on safari? Surely the idea of this is to stop children unlocking the site, but it’s as easy as clicking allow when it’s giving you the option when you try to go on a restricted site? how do I permanently block sites without the option of unlocking as easily ?

Hello Georgiag4299,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We recommend to verify that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS 16.2. Having the latest update helps provide software improvements that may help. Here are the steps on how to update the software:

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly
1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 15.7 or iOS 16.

5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

These steps are outlined here: Update your iPhone or iPad

From there, let's see if you can set the restrictions on the iPhone without any issue.

Kind regards.

Georgiag4299,

Having the latest iOS installed is the always a good place to begin when troubleshooting an issue. Particularly since an incremental update can bring with it fixes for software issues.

Here’s a bit more about restrictions though, including how to block a specific site. Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Prevent web content
iOS and iPadOS can automatically filter website content to limit access to adult content in Safari and other apps on your device. You can also add specific websites to an approved or blocked list, or you can limit access to only approved websites. Follow these steps:
1. Go to Settings and tap Screen Time.
2. Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions and enter your Screen Time passcode.
3. Tap Content Restrictions, then tap Web Content.
4. Choose Unrestricted Access, Limit Adult Websites, or Allowed Websites.

Depending on the access you allow, you might need to add information, like the website that you want to restrict.

It would be helpful to know if you’re met with a prompt to enter your Screen Time passcode when being prompted to allow a site and if not, a passcode may need to be set up in Settings > Screen Time.

Thanks.
