Battery draining while plugged in - Air M2 w/Monterey 12.6

Hi helpful people:

I have a brand-new Macbook Air with little installed software.

The battery frequently drains to 80% while plugged in. I have all power management set conservatively. Sometimes when I restart, it solves the problem, but then soon it begins again.

Any ideas appreciated!

If you have "Optimize Battery Charging" enabled, to protect your battery, the Mac learns your habits and when connected to a power adapter for a long time , will keep the charge at 80%. Keeping batteries continually charged to 100% is not good for the batteries and is just the state of current battery technology. When you will need to go "mobile", you can choose charge to full now.

The other option if you want to keep your battery at 100%, disable optimize battery charging. Be aware by doing so, you will likely degrade the life of the battery.
