Battery Failure after upgrading from iOS 16.1.1 to 16.1.2

After upgrading from iOS 16.1.1 to 16.1.2 my battery usage has tanked. I charge it to 100% in the evening and it drops to 20% when I get up in the morning. And it’s not being used!

What’s going on here?

According to Apple:

Optimize iPhone battery charging:

iPhone has a setting that helps slow the rate of your battery’s aging by reducing the time it spends fully charged.

This setting uses machine learning to understand your daily charging routine, then waits to finish charging past 80% until you need it.

  1. Go to Settings ➢ Battery, then tap Battery Health.
  2. Turn on Optimized Battery Charging.
