Gold paint on Macbook Air m1

I bought the gold Macbook Air M1 about 8 months ago and have noticed the paint colour has already faded on the right side corner of the palm rest. I have had many Macbooks in the past, all in the original silver aluminium finish and never had this happen after many years of use. I am so disappointed to see this on a new machine and want to know if it's normal.
