Hi Scottdiu83,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today.

We have a few steps you can try, but it is possible you will need to contact YouTube support since it is a third-party app and the issue sounds isolated to YouTube.

First, you'll want to be sure your Apple TV is updated which will rule out the issue being related to an outdated version of tvOS. The latest version for Apple TV 4K is 16.1.1: About Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD software updates.

Here's how to Update your Apple TV

"Update your Apple TV manually

  1. Go to Settings > System > Software Updates and select Update Software.
  2. If there's an update, select Download and Install.
  3. Wait for your Apple TV to download the update. Keep your Apple TV connected and plugged in to power until the update is complete.

After the update downloads, your Apple TV will restart, prepare the update, then install it. When the update is complete, your Apple TV will automatically restart again."

Next, deleting the YouTube app and reinstalling it from the App Store may resolve any software issues and assure that the latest version of YouTube is installed. Here's how: Customize the Apple TV Home Screen.

"Delete an app

  1. Select the app you want to delete, then press and hold the clickpad center (Siri Remote 2nd generation or later) or touch surface (Siri Remote 1st generation) until the app starts to jiggle.
  2. Press the Play/Pause button  for more options, then choose Delete.
  3. Deleting an app also deletes its data. You can download any app again that you’ve purchased on the App Store, free of charge, but the data may not be restored."

If the issue still isn't resolved, you will need to contact YouTube support at Contact Us.

Have a fantastic day!
