number of messages disappeared
"Message" icon no longer shows number of messages. I want to get this feature back.
Last answer to this on here was in 2013. There must be a more recent fix.

Hi 1hairleft,
To make sure we're on the same page, are you referring to the number of unread messages? Also, is this the Apple Messages app or a third-party app?
Finally, do you receive notifications of incoming messages, but they don't show the red badge icon?
