COLOR SELECTION BOX DISAPPEARS IN MAC PAGES?

I'm using Pages version 12.2.1 and when my graphics and page are complex with shadows and options, my COLOR SELECTION BOX disappears!

I cannot highlight some text and change its color!

This is such a nuisance! I have to "trick" the system by selecting part or more of it for the COLOR BOX to appear, and it is "hit or miss."

Why does the COLOR SELECTION disappear?

Salutations sir_viver,

We’d like to get some additional details on what’s happening. You’ve mentioned this occurs when your display is showing complex graphics and shadows. Are these graphics that are being added to a Pages document or in another app? You also said you’re unable to highlight and change the color of some text. Does the situation impact all text or just portions and if just portions, is it the same portions each time?

We’re including a link below from the Pages for macOS User Guide. It has some screenshots of the Format sidebar. We want to be sure this is where you’re attempting to make those changes and also to double confirm which color options are missing. Change the color of text or add a gradient in Pages on Mac

Change text color
1. Select the text you want to change.
To change all of the text in a text box or table cell, select the text box or table cell.
2. In the Format sidebar, click the Style button near the top.
If the text is in a text box, table, or shape, first click the Text tab at the top of the sidebar, then click the Style button.
3. Choose one of the following:
• A color that coordinates with your template: Click the pop-up menu below the Font section, then choose Text Color. Click the color well, then choose a color.
• Any color: Click the pop-up menu below the Font section, then choose Text Color. Click the color wheel, then choose a color from one of the color palettes.
• A two-color gradient fill: Click the pop-up menu below the Font section and choose Gradient Fill. Choose two colors. The color well shows colors that match the template; the color wheel opens the Colors window, where you can choose any color. Use the controls to change the angle and direction of the gradient.
• A custom gradient: Click the pop-up menu below the Font section and choose Advanced Gradient Fill. Click the color stops below the slider to choose colors. Click near the bottom edge of the slider to add another color stop. You can drag the color stops and use the other controls to change the blend, angle, and direction of the gradient.

To apply the gradient based on the length of the shape or text box (not the size of the selected text), select the checkbox next to “Apply gradient to entire object.” The gradient changes when the size of the object or text box changes. To apply the gradient across the full length of the page, select the checkbox next to “Apply gradient to entire page.”

Thanks.
