Garage Band sustain pedal huge bug

After I record an instrument from a MIDI controller and use the sustain pedal,

deleting any note event or even moving a note event causes "all" the sustain pedal events to be ignored for the whole clip ! It turns the recording I've been struggling with for hours into garbage. My external digital piano model is Yamaha ARIUS YDP-165.

Third party apps with garageband I'm having this issue with:

  • Ravenscroft 275
  • PurePiano
  • Korg Module

If i record the track with my digital piano and with one of the internal garage band instruments to recording like built in "grand piano" , I don't have such a problem. But if I can't record and edit with 3rd party plugins, there is no point in garage band having plugin support.

What can I do so that the sustain data is not corrupted when I edit a single tiny note?

I'm sorry, but it sounds like you're encountering a bug or technical issue with GarageBand and the third-party plugins you're using. It's difficult for me to say exactly what the problem is without being able to see the issue firsthand, but there are a few things you can try that might help resolve the problem.

One thing you can try is to make sure that you're using the latest version of GarageBand and the third-party plugins. Sometimes bugs and technical issues can be resolved by updating to the latest version of the software.

Another thing you can try is to reset GarageBand's preferences. To do this, quit the app and then hold down the Option and Command keys while you open the app again. This will reset GarageBand's preferences to their default values.

Finally, if the problem persists, you may want to try reaching out to the developers of the third-party plugins you're using. They may be able to provide more specific guidance on how to resolve the issue you're encountering.

Unfortunately none of your suggestions solved my problem.

I will share the solution I found for those who have the same problem.

Yamaha and some Roland brand pianos have an incompatibility with the Ravenscroft 275 plugin in terms of pedals. You can record in MIDI format, but when you edit on GarageBand, all the sustain information is distorted. My own suggestion for those who own a piano from one of these brands;

* Download nTrack Studio and buy pro version.

* In this program, you can edit without disturbing both the recording and the sustain effect. Moreover, it perceives the velocity of the keys quite well and is much more comprehensive than GarageBand.

* Create new record and add Ravenscroft 275 as instrument.

* Edit the track you recorded as you want.

* After the editing process is finished, if you export 16bit in .wav or .mp4 format, there is no problem if sound comes from the exported file. But again, if there is no sound from your exports due to brand and program incompatibility, export as MIDI and import this MIDI into a piece with Ravenscroft added to GarageBand and export via GarageBand without any editing.

In short, record and edit the track in nTrack Studio, send it as MIDI to GarageBand and export it as .wav via GarageBand.

I wish it wasn't so difficult and expensive.
