Ipad Air wont show newest software update

My fathers Ipad air wont update to the newest IOS 14 or later, it claims to be fully updated at IOS 12.5.6, A1474 on the iPad Air Wi-Fi. Any ideas??

Unfortunately, that model of iPad (9 years old) is not compatible with iOS 13 or higher.

Why can't I update my iPad to the newest update of iOS 16.2? Hello, I have the iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation) Wi-Fi and I am currently running iPad OS 15.71. Why is it that I cannot update my iPad to the newest update of ios 16.2? Is there something wrong with my iPad? It was mentioned on the apple page that iPadOS 16.2 runs on all Pro models but then my iPad doesn't have the option to update to iPadOS 16.2...
