I'm having ongoing problems with Mac Mail. The preview of the messages loads, but the body of the message does not. Sometimes it will eventually load, but the time it takes is frustrating. I've rebuilt my mail, and also deleted and added the accounts back in. There is no problem with the messages in my browser (gmail, etc), only when trying to use Mac Mail. Suggestions?

Suggest starting with ➡️

1 - Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

2 - Safe Mode will also eliminate Third Party Software, extensions and drivers from loading

3 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

4 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.

Still issue >> Apple Mail >> Preferences >> Privacy tab

Then untick any or All option from below image

A - Very correct 😔 and apologies for going backwards in time and not forwards is year

The fact that the referenced post was posted in early 2021 in the Mojave section does not in any way 'prove' that the poster was referring to Mojave. It is not uncommon for posts to be placed in the wrong section and, unless clarification is sought, they are unlikely be moved to the correct section by the moderators.

So, based upon the information provided and location of the Post - it would be reasonable to infer related to Mojave.

Yes, there are Users who post in Mavericks for issue that related to Ventura and the reverse also happens

The article from previous poster, though attempting to be helpful, is outdated and refers to a macOS 10.14 Mojave setup .

Much has changed since the release of Mojave back in 2016.

1 - There could be something in the main User Account playing up. To further isolate this - Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Then log out of the Main User account and log into the dummy account and test again if the issue persists.

2 - If the issue is present in the dummy account - then, this appears to be a System Wide issue on the computer.

3 - Download the Application Etrecheck directly from the Developer.

This is a Diagnostic Tool that makes no changes to the computer.

It makes a coherent and readable inventory of both the Hardware and Software used on the computer

The application is free or paid from added features.

Apology accepted.

Please don't assume that a post placed in a section for the version of an OS that has been available more than 2 years at the time of the post actually refers to that OS and then dismiss the post's 'workaround' as being irrelevant to today's OS. (That section is hardly 'information provided' - the user may have been searching in that section or seen something therein that may have distracted them from ensuring they were in their own OS's section).

Many bugs are never fixed because insufficient people experience them and/or report them. Resources are finite.

So anyway, back to the original question. I'm still having this problem, and it's frustrating, I can drag some of the mail into other mailboxes and open it there but this isn't a real solution (not a slam on the person who suggested it, it works and I very much appreciate the help).

Any other ideas?

I know if I call Apple I'm going to get the whole reboot, reboot into safe mode, create a new user account, and when those don't work it's rebuild the library, delete and add back in the accounts, etc all of which I've tried at some point. This can't be happening to just me, and I do understand resource allocation, but reading incoming email seems like a primary function for a desktop.

Thank you for advising that the workaround works.

It must be tedious to have this problem with so many emails.

There have been other reports of this problem - which is how the workaround came to be in the forums.

I don't have any other ideas - it's only happened to me a handful of times over the years, not enough to be a problem. I have not had the problem since I read about the workaround recently.
