When using “Spoken Content” to read webpages or text in a document, it typically freezes. I typically have relied on this functionality. It’s the same on both iPad Pro and iPhone 14 Pro

the iPad is running iPadOS 16.1.1 (20B101) and the iPhone is on iOS 16.1.2 (20B110); both updated regularly and both still have issues of stalling or skipping words, etc.. or should I downgrade them to 15 as you've shown?

Leave Low Power Mode off when you don't need it
Low Power Mode is an iPhone and iPad feature that extends battery life by reducing the amount of power that your device uses. In Low Power Mode, some features are turned off and some tasks might take longer to complete. If your battery icon is yellow, that means Low Power Mode is on.
Consider leaving Low Power Mode off if you need your iPhone or iPad to function without low-power restrictions. You can turn Low Power Mode on or off in Settings > Battery.

Thanks for the suggestions, but none of those apply as I don’t use low power mode, work from home, am on Wi-Fi, typically close apps not needed, have a brand new iPhone 14 Pro and the iPad Pro is last year’s model (recently restored to factory settings with a fresh OS install without transferring data and apps), both devices have plenty of storage 256GB and 35% full, they run everything else perfectly fine… In fact, spoken content doesn’t really work well on my MacBook Pro with an M1 chip…
Does anyone else have issues with it stalling and randomly missing words?
Could it be that maybe there’s a problem with spoken content across the board that needs to be addressed rather than pointing to it as my hardware issue?

Looks like this bug was fixed when I updated respective devices: iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, Ventura 13.1. The issue went away on all devices.
