it says at the link that in some locations you can choose a pickup window. You may also be able to call the store.
another thing, perhaps you could order it closer to your travel time so you don’t have to worry about them holding it for 10 days.

It depends on whether the store has it in stock; you would need to check the actual store on that day - they will not hold it for you. If you order online, it will be ready when Apple has it ready for you - they hold it for 2 - 3 days max.
