Blocking feature not working

I’ve been trying to block someone but still receive all the messages. I went to settings and it said they were blocked but still receive phone calls and text messages. What do I do?

Hi Misunderstooddd,

It sounds like the originator may be "spoofing" their phone number, as that would not provide the same info to block in the system.

What you can do is mute that conversation, so you're not bothered with notifications.

Turn on Hide Alerts
1. Open Messages.
2. Swipe left over the conversation that you want to mute.
3. Tap the Alerts button .
When Hide Alerts is on, the Alerts button  appears next to the conversation. This stops notifications only for that conversation, not your device. You’ll still receive all other messages and see notifications for them on your Lock Screen.

Take care!

Hello Misunderstooddd,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

While you do have the ability on your iPhone to block communications from people if they use Apple services like iMessage or FaceTime, Apple doesn't have the ability to block incoming text messages and phone calls completely.

For that you'll want to reach out to your carrier. They should be able to provide you with any available options for that.

Hope this helps!
