Nissan & CarPlay

I have a 2022 Nissan Titan that has major CarPlay issues.

  1. Sometimes, there's static when using any audio app alongside any navigation app.
  2. Sometimes, CarPlay just shuts down when trying to have Siri read a text or send a text.
  3. Sometimes, the screen freezes. Interestingly enough, when the screen freezes, you can take a screen capture and it captures the phone screen and the CarPlay screen. However, the screen shot shows the correct time and location on the map, even though the screen is stuck.

Tried multiple cables, even ordered a new cable from Apple. It's had problems with my a new iPhone 14 Pro Max. But it also had the same issues with my former 12 Pro Max. Nissan says that they don't know what's causing it.

Any thoughts?

Hello bsc4gators,

In that case, try these specific steps to see if they solve this for you:

On your iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap on General
  3. Tap on CarPlay
  4. Tap your car
  5. Then tap 'Forget This Car'.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap on General
  3. Tap on About
  4. Tap on Name
  5. Rename the device

On your car stereo:

  1. Forget the iPhone, refer to your manual, if needed or contact the manufacturer.
  2. After those steps, attempt to pair the iPhone to the vehicle again: Use CarPlay with your iPhone

If you continue to have issues, then it may be best to contact Apple directly: Official Apple Support

They'll need to take it from here.

Wishing you well, take care.

Hello bsc4gators,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We're happy to look into this with you. We understand that you're having issues with CarPlay. It's good that you've contacted the automobile manufacturer for help. Do you know if they checked to confirm the firmware is updated for your stereo system?

If you haven't done so yet, test your stereo system with an iPhone that isn't linked to your Apple ID. This can help isolate it to something in your iPhone software that could be causing this happen.

Also, if you haven't done so yet, there are some good troubleshooting actions to try providing in article, If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support.

If you need help with CarPlay

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, learn what to do.

First, make sure that your country or region supports CarPlay and that your car supports CarPlay. If you're unsure if your car supports CarPlay, contact the vehicle manufacturer.

Make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS. If your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS, follow these steps — checking CarPlay after each step:

1. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:

- If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
- If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled under Settings > Wi-Fi and Settings > Bluetooth.

2. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display.

3. Restart your iPhone and your car.

4. Make sure that Siri is on.

5. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.

6. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.

7. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.

If you still have issues connecting to CarPlay, contact Apple Support.

If the steps above don't help to correct the issue, be sure to contact Apple Support for additional help.

Best regards.
