macbook pro facetime camera not working

FaceTime Camera on Macbook Pro Turns off seconds after launching a call

When using FaceTime on my mac, the camera turns off during a call and stays black. I can get it to turn back on by hitting the camera button off and on again, but in a few seconds it turns off again. I have the most recent OS. I have tried restarting the app, restarting my computer. I have followed the instructions from the apple support homepage.

Hello milos73,

If the camera is not working properly, the first thing you'll want to do is isolate if the issue is with the actual camera or just the FaceTime application. Try using the built in Photo Booth application and see if the camera functions properly there or does the same thing.

If the camera is not working for any applications, here's some steps you can try: If your built-in camera isn’t working on your Mac

If the camera is just not working in the FaceTime application, here's some steps you can try: If FaceTime isn't working on your Mac

Some additional steps you can try to isolate if the issue is hardware or software based is test the camera in safe mode, and test it out in a different user account on the computer.

Start up your Mac in safe mode

Add a user or group on Mac

Cheers!
