Why does it say SOS at the top right hand side of my iPhone instead of 4G? I'm in an inner city area and should have full cellular coverage

That normally appears when your iPhone is unable to connect to your carrier's network, but can still make emergency calls on other network towers.
Contact your service provider and make sure your service plan is active, working, and they aren't having a service issue on their network towers in the area.
