Apple USB Keyboard with Keypad Non-Responsive after Restart

Hello all,

A1242 full size white Apple keyboard, low profile keys, wired (USB connection) paired with a new Mac Studio running Monterey 12.6.1.

Keyboard does not always connect. I have several of these keyboards, brand new, and I have the same issue with any one I try with the Mac Studio no matter the USB port I'm plugged into on the computer. MS is paired with the new 27" Apple Studio Display.

Specifically, upon starting up the computer after it's been shut down for some time, the OS will load like usual and will open to the login screen. At that point, the keyboard (or the mouse that is connected to the keyboard) are non-responsive. I try to type, and nothing happens. I try to move the mouse, nothing happens.

My workaround... I unplug the mouse from the keyboard (a random third party wired USB mouse), then plug it directly into the Mac Studio. At that point, the mouse and keyboard are both recognized and work properly.

Has anyone heard of this before and know of a potential fix?
