Migration assistant is not working. Software on both the old Mac and the new one is up to date. Firewalls are switched off on both as well. Error message shows saying that they are unable to connect using migration assistant.

Ho who I solve this? The error message only suggests turning the firewalls off, but they are turned off. Software is all up to date on both Macs.

I am using a cable and adapter and it still won't work. I have tried it over and over starting on the new computer and also starting on the old computer. I want to move my apps and Apple.com says to use migration assistant to do it but it always says Unable to Connect to the older Mac even though it clearly sees it because it is on the screen.

Like Nowonami the software is up-to-date on Monterey 12.6.1 on both machines and they are on the same network.

When encountering a problem such as this it is necessary to go through a process to eliminate some potential problems as noted above. The next thing I would do is to use a different cable to eliminate it as the culprit. Occasionally a cable or an adapter can be the problem. The only way to know s to replace both of them. Incidentally, newer cables are available which do not require adapters. They have the newer connecters needed.
