macbook pro 2021 error 119930874 mounting external HD

Hello, macbookpro from 2021 is being slow to mount external HD (Seagate backup plus drive 2TB), and got this error when I tried to mount it from Disc utilities:

error de com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter -119930874

It mounts after a few minutes, but I'm curious if this can be fixed.

Seagate has a USB-A and I'm using a USB A to USB-C adaptor (attached pic) to connect it to the Thunderbolt in the macbook pro.

Adaptor specs:

Version: 3.1 Gen 1

Connection 1: USB C male,

Connection 2: USB A female,

max. speed: 5 Gb/s.

Wondering if this is the problem and how could I fix it?

Apple silicon

1. Shut down your Mac.

2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.

3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”

4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.
