Apple Watch Podcasts app Bug

I believe I have discovered a bug with Apple Watch Podcasts app. Ever since upgrading to WatchOS 9.1 when starting a podcast away from my iPhone it will play at half-speed for about 5 seconds then stop. This is on both LTE and WiFi. Resetting the app makes no difference, it plays for 5 seconds at half speed and stops. The display looks like it is playing. Rebooting the watch will fix it until the next time I use the app, usually the next day (listen during workouts).


Exact sequence is:

1) open podcasts app

2) touch Library

3) touch Latest Episodes

4) make selection.


Doesn't make a difference if I begin a workout first. Seems to be only the Podcast app. Airpods Pro (first gen). Apple Watch Ultra. Started after OS update, whenever it was released.

This definitely doesn't sound like anticipated behavior and we want to help you figure it out. In addition to updating your Apple Watch to the latest version of watchOS, have you also made sure that your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS? Updating your paired iPhone is always important whenever encountering these types of issues on Apple Watch. Here is how to update, if you need to: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support


If the issue continues to occur, we would recommend that you make sure the episode you're listening to has been downloaded locally to the device so that you can play it without an active network connection. If the issue doesn't continue to occur when you've downloaded a podcast offline, then it could be possible that a network issue is causing this to occur.
