Siri’s voice changes to the old robotic version when adked to define words. Why?

I use the newer Female British Siri voice, but when I ask it to define a word, she reverts to the older less realistic version. Afterwards she goes back to the better version.

Anyone know why?

It’s annoying and seem like some kind of half fix to something broken.

Hey there Lars,

That is a strange thing to occur, especially as it's only being done when asking specifically for the definition of a word. While you may need to reach out to Apple Support about this for further help, we'd like to first rule out what we can here in Apple Support Communities, along with better understanding the issue:

  1. When did this first start?
  2. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone
  3. Since you have a compatible model, the latest version is iOS 16.1.2. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.

Cheers!
