Vertical/Horizontal lines on Macbook air display!?

A few days ago I noticed a vertical line on the edge of my screen. I have a 2019 Macbook air. I tried resetting the SMC and the NVRAM. I cleaned up all my old files and installed the newest update, but still, nothing fixed it. Today I noticed a similar line at the bottom of my screen, but this one is horizontal. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hey there darnold06,

While you may need to review your service options with Apple to have a tech take a closer look, we'd like to rule out some other possible causes first:

  1. You mentioned already performing two great steps, but we wanted to ask if you tried starting your Mac in macOS Recovery to see if the same two lines show on the screen? If you haven't yet, let's give it a try using the steps here: Intro to macOS Recovery
  2. You also mentioned this happened a few days ago, but do you remember what you were doing with your Mac right before it began to occur?

Cheers!

The issue with the lines on the Mac screen can be represented in many different forms and colors. The issue needs to be addressed immediately so it wouldn’t become a permanent problem. Here are some of the reasons that could be causing the issue:

1. Physical damage to the screen

2. Extensive overhearing

3. Damaged or improperly connected cable

4. Outdated or incompatible graphic drivers

5. Hardware problems (graphics card or motherboard)

6. Various software issues

However, to fix the lines on Mac screen, you can try the below DIY fixes:

1. Reboot Your Mac

2. Check Cable Connection

3. Connect Another Display

4. Reset SMC

5. Reset NVRAM

6. Install Graphic Card Updates

7. Reinstall current macOS

Hope it helps!
