Trackpad "Swipe between pages" randomly toggles off

MacBook Pro M1 Pro (16" 2021 model), most current version of macOS Ventura 13.0.1. I also have a Magic Trackpad 2 and Logitech MX Master 3S.

I frequently swipe between pages or swipe right/left in apps for functions like going back/forward, delete, unread, archive, flag etc (like in Safari, Notes, Messages, Mail). Maybe 2-3 times per month I can't swipe like I usually do in Safari, Notes, Mail etc. I try on my MacBook Pro, Magic Trackpad 2, and my MX Master 3S (back/forward side buttons are mapped the same) but it does not work. When I go into Trackpad settings > More Gestures, I see that Swipe between pages is toggled Off. I simply turn it back to Swipe or Scroll and everything works again... But then it happens again randomly after a few weeks.

Has anybody else noticed this behavior? It is not so disruptive because it does not happen SO frequently, but I cannot figure out anything I am doing that causes it to this!

This issue happened to me when using the MX Master3S on OSX (also I found a reddit thread about it with a few other users reporting the same issue). I am pretty sure it has to do with how LogitechOptions+ software controls how the MX Master uses gestures. Very annoying when going back to use the Macbook trackpad and the back/forward swipe does not function unless toggled back on.

In fact it bothered me so much I eventually returned the MX Master as Logitech support was no help to fixing the issue.

I have just recently purchased the MX Master3S again (still waiting delivery) because I really liked the ergonomics of the mouse but I see that the errors of software have still not been fixed; I am going to try using third party software to control the mouse instead of LogitechOptions+ software and hopefully that will solve this issue. Some of the third party software that can replace LogitechOptions+ are called BetterMouse and SteerMouse. Although they both cost money; there are trial versions to see if they work properly.

Fingers crossed that one of those third party options work!
