OS for iPhoto

HI. What was the last OS that supported iPhoto? My current OS (Monterey 12.5) on a 2021 14" M1-chip MBP always tries to convert my iPhoto libraries to Photo when I try to open them from a back-up I made from an ancient 15" MBP running High Sierra 10.13. I really prefer iPhoto to Photo's way of organizing and presenting photos. I'm forced to use Photo for all new imports but wd like to keep the iPhoto organization for my old photos. Thnx.

Thanks. So I wd have to get a refurbished Intel MBP to run iPhoto. My ancient MBP is dying, but since I have the iPhoto libraries backed up on external HDs I guess I cd get a low-storage refurbished Intel MBP at low cost to keep using them.

Or maybe I shd just transfer them all to Lightroom? I don't have Lightroom yet (Don't like the idea of subscribing to Adobe). Is there another photo app better than Photo I cd use?

Any refurbished Mac you get would only be able to run the system it originally came with or newer. So the MBP would have to be a 2019 13" model or older. The 2019 16" model came with Catalina.

iPhoto is a dead end. If you fond yourself thinking of buying old machines simply to run a $15 app, then you need to accept that it's time to move on.

There are several, but how many images are we talking about? How many get added to the collection annually? Are you shooting Raw or Jpeg? What's your budget?
