Hi, my not ready for primetime Photos Application in Ventura 13.0.1 will not play videos downloaded from iPhone and my camera card. Seems sudden, but I can't say for sure.
The player controls are missing when I hover the mouse pointer over where the play button used to be. I can drag it out of photos and quicktime loads and plays it fine.
The auto-play setting is checked in Photos Settings
Anyone else experiencing this or have a recommendation?
Before reparing they the following:
1 = give all of the existing videos a unique keyword so they can be grouped together easily in a Smart Album.
2 - export a couple of the videos to a folder on the Desktop as unmodified originals.
3 - import them into your test library. \
4 - test to see if the videos will play OK in the test library. If they do go to step #45.
5 - merge the text library into your primary library and see if the videos will play in there.
If the above works you can export the remaining videos to a folder on the Desktop, import them into the test library, test to see if they play, delete the videos from the primary library and merge the test library into the primary one.
It might be quicker than the long repair process with no assurance that they will play afterward.
FYI, I created a 2nd library and added just 1 video, it worked as designed. I guess I'll rebuild the library, a 12 hour process unfortunately, 3rd time in 90 days. Both libraries failed to be available in the screen saver Apple App. Another Photos problem, when choosing a folder the library is greyed out when using screen saver in preferences
