Turn off auto-switch for desktops

I disabled the "When switching to an application, switch to a Space with open windows for the application" option already!

I am very annoyed by my mac automatically switching desktops because i open something new in the backround or even worse, when i present Powerpoints online during my presentation. I was neither able to stop this during my presentation (very unpleasing) nor sometimes else. How to do this? I simply never ever want my mac to switch desktops without me explicitly telling him to do so. If i wanted my computer to command me, i would buy a windows PC.

I and my students appreciate every help.

With an app in the desired Desktop, you can ctrl-click on the app icon in the Dock and set it to be assigned to This, All, or None.
