blue text on black background hard to read

Am not sure how many places this crops up, but the default dark blue text

(Settings > Display & Brightness > Appearance = 'Dark'; Brightness = 50%)

on (dark) black background is very hard to read. (OK on Appearance = 'Light')

e.g. in Messages: the text "< Filters" and the icons on the same screen - are almost indecipherable, depending on ambient lighting.

This color combo seems the default in numerous places.

what to do ?
