Keyboard Autocorrection won't work properly

Hello, i recently bought an m1 MacBook air and im pretty happy with it. But since 3 hours my keyboard is freaking me out. Normally, when I'm using gmail with safari the autocorrection works without a problem, and also inside WhatsApp it normally works fine.

But since 3 hours it only works in certain apps and websites. Mostly in Mac standard apps its working. In WhatsApp (Standalone from the appstore) it won't correct anything and also it won't make an emoji out of :D (I never setted this up, but I'm missing it already). What could I do?

And by the way, it also don't correct anything inside the microsoft office apps since 3 hours.

I already tried:

Turning the autocorrection settings off, rebooting, turn them on again.

Inside the App I was checking the Grammar Option settings, all checkboxes are checked. With the grammar spelling tool I also realized that the Mac only recognizes input of words inside of standard programs.

I reinstalled ventura

I didn't change any setting in the last days

I don't use programs like grammarly.

What could the problem be? I really miss the grammar checking in third party apps and on websites like gmail.

Hello Cir0,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help get autocorrection working as expected on your Mac across all apps.

Start with the steps here to ensure the feature is properly enabled:

"Use autocorrection

When your spelling is checked, misspelled words are underlined in red, and suggested corrections are shown.

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Keyboard  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
  2. Go to Text Input on the right, then click Edit.
  3. Turn on “Correct spelling automatically,” then click Done.

Note: To have the first word of a sentence and proper nouns (such as California or Tim) automatically capitalized as you type, turn on “Capitalize words automatically.”

4. In an app, type your content.

5. As misspelled words are detected, do one of the following:

    • Accept suggestions: If there’s only one suggestion, just keep typing to have the word autocorrected. If two or more suggestions are shown, choose one.
    • Ignore suggestions: Press Esc, then continue typing.
    • Undo autocorrections: An automatically corrected word is briefly underlined in blue. To revert to your original spelling, put the insertion point after the word to show your original spelling, then choose your spelling. You can also Control-click the word to show your spelling, then choose it.

To turn off autocorrection for a specific app, open the app, then choose Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Correct Spelling Automatically (it’s off when a checkmark isn’t shown).

If an app’s Edit menu doesn’t include a spelling or grammar command, check its settings or menus to see if it has its own spell checker.

While typing, you can display a list of suggested words by pressing F5 (you may need to also press the Fn key, depending on your Mac model). If your Mac has a Touch Bar, you can  set an option to show typing suggestions in the Touch Bar."

We hope this helps to isolate and resolve the issue to get autocorrection working as expected again.

Cheers!
