Monterey Mail doesn't always show email content

Some emails I receive are blank but I know the content has been downloaded since forwarding the message will show content in the forwarded email window. Have tried rebuilding Inbox. Any more ideas out there?

Hello jamespoe,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities.

Does this happen with emails from the same sender? If so, it’s possible you’re unable to load the content privately. This is a security feature that prevents senders from determining your location or link it to other online activity. You can learn more about that feature here: If you see 'Unable to load remote content privately' at the top of an email - Apple Support

You can find the steps to turn it off or on here: Use Mail Privacy Protection on iPhone - Apple Support

Kindest regards.

Hey jamespoe,

If you're experiencing a handful of issues like you mentioned, it may not be a bad idea to reinstall macOS and see if that may help resolve multiple issues with one step. Reinstalling is pretty straightforward and, while it's always advisable to create a backup prior to reinstalling any operating system, reinstalling macOS doesn't erase the data on your computer.

Here is how you can do that if you'd like to give it a shot: How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

We hope that this information is helpful.

Have a great day!

Thanks for your response, Shanon.

Different senders. Rebuilt Inbox. The three options in the Privacy pane are off. My work-around is to Forward the message and the content is shown in the Forwarded message window. Problem happens intermittently from commercial and personal senders. Sometimes a Restart will fix it. The content shows if I go to Mail on the iCloud website.

Unfortunately, this is one of the several problems I'm having with Monterey, like intermittent denial of permission to save a file. Resetting permissions for the folder fixes it for awhile. Thanks again.

My Monterey problems have a history. For a new M1 16", I first used Migration Assistant from an earlier MBP Retina/Mojave - nothing worked consistently. After much running of utilities and resetting of permissions I never got it to work right. Finally I erased the drive and did a fresh install of Monterey, then manually moved my files over but had to give up my custom mailboxes in Mail. I exported some important mailboxes from the Mojave Mac, 'tho the import process didn't work well in Monterey. Anyway, the M1 worked much better without whatever gremlins were coming from the Mojave Mac using Migration Assistant Still permissions are not stable for some sub-folders within Documents, and Mail just doesn't behave as reliably as in Mojave. I would surely go back if possible but have decided to live with OS shortcomings in favor of more screen real estate. I've been using Macs since 1980s and have worked with hundreds of them personally and for business. In light of many earlier logical, transparent OS versions, Monterey is like a mysterious black box. It's a disappointment.
