I can't connect my new magic mouse to my iMac - no lightning interface

How do I connect my new magic mouse (2?) to my iMac desktop?

The old magic mouse died.

I can't turn on bluetooth without a mouse.

No lighting interface. My old mouse used batteries.

My iMac is USELESS without a mouse. Desperate for help.

I am having the same trouble. Using the old mouse works but the cable is too short to use left-handed. The Magic Mouse will scroll up and down but the pointer/cursor does not work. Tried turning it off and on, re-pairing it with the USB to Lightning cable; it shows that it's paired and will swipe using the side to side and click method but will not point. What else can I do?

You connect the mouse to the computer for pairing and charging with a USB to Lightning cable. There should be a USB-C to Lightning cable in the mouse's box. If you have an older iMac that uses USB-A, you can use a USB adapter or get a USB-A to Lightning cable.

You can use the computer without a mouse via Mouse Keys.

Control the pointer using Mouse Keys on Mac - Apple Support

You can quickly turn Mouse Keys on or off by pressing the Option key five times.
