The 9th gen iPad has a 10.2 inch screen, measured along the diagonal.
The new 10th gen iPad has a 10.9 inch screen ( larger size screen ).
In addition, the 9th gen iPad uses a much older external iPad aluminium chasis/back case design.
The new 10th gen iPad follows the new design language of the 2018-2022 iPad Pro models, as well as the 2020 4th gen iPad Air and 2022 5th gen iPad Air ( same size 10.9 inch diagonal screen ), that the aluminium case uses flat, squared off case edges, instead of the much older aluminium case design, which uses more rounded over/countoured case edges.
