Gmail drafts created in Mac Mail not showing in All Drafts when saved

Not sure if this was a coincident but I wrote an email and saved it as a draft but it did not show up in All Drafts. I figured I must have not actually saved it and wrote it again but again nothing showed up in my All Drafts folder in Mac Mail.

After poking around in Mail Preferences I decided to click off "Protect Mail Activity" in the Privacy pane and as soon as I did those 2 draft emails appeared in my ALL Drafts folder.

Would like to keep that on if its a good security measure but I'd rather my Drafts worked correctly.

Any suggestions on how to keep that ticked on and also be able to save Drafts would be appreciated.

Hello, since the original post the system was updated from 12.6.1 to 12.6.2 along with other changes to numerous to list.

I turned on "Protect Mail Activity" and my saved drafts now show up in All Drafts. So I'll leave that on.

Side note - My work system is set to automatically send using my Gmail, or so I thought, and when I create a new blank message the From field is set to my work email. But as soon as I enter a name in the To field it switches to my apple mail. I can then manually switch back to sending from my work email but I never would have noticed that if I wasn't scrutinizing every step of the process.

Turns out that the "Send new messages from" setting was set to "Automatically select best account" and not my work email as I thought. I guess that was one of those things that changed or didn't carry over in the migration?

Not sure how it chooses the best email but I learned something there.

Anyway, saved drafts seems to be working now.

Hey Rob. I only use my apple mail and gmail. Os is 12.6.1 The system gets a fresh start and a shut down every day, plus a few restarts when conflicts arise. I'll toggle that setting on and off and see if it consistently causes the problem.
