iOS 16.1.1 Regarding Siri Text to Speech
iPhone 11
iOS 16.1.1
After updating to iOS 16.1.1, Siri text to speech function has effectively been broken. In the past I have been able to highlight and use Siri to speak whole pages ranging from 2k words to over 7k. Mind you, this has worked flawlessly in the past with previous iOS versions.
What typically happens is that Siri reads out all the highlighted portions without issue. Some of the issues that have now taken place include; sporadic sound quality changes from quality to muffled, Siri repeating over and over again from random spots on the highlighted portion, and Siri seems to stop reading highlighted text entirely after a short time.
I was originally on iOS 14, and I’ve never had a single issue with text to speech for long stories. My phone hardly ever struggled with it, so I have some reason to believe that it’s not a processing limitation of the sorts.
I tried resetting my phone, even going as far as to factory reset (backing up my phone of course) in an attempt to restore to an older version; but to no avail.
I doubt this is an issue that can be fixed on my end, and I’m just hoping I can bring this to attention.
To anyone that wants to replicate this issue, copy and paste an excerpt of words from anywhere over 7k words. Paste it into notes, highlight it and press the ‘Speak’ button. I’m using an iPhone 11.
