Settings icon missing in iOS 16

I updated my iPhone 12 Pro Max to ios 16.1.1 from iOS 15.7.1 or whatever the most recent version was. I’ve noticed new icons have appeared on my Home Screen and my Settings icon is no where to be found. I checked every screen and folder. I checked the App Library and it’s not there. If I search for ”Wi-Fi” it appears and I can get to Settings. Where did my icon go?

Also my Lock Screen notifications appear at the bottom of my screen instead of the top. When the phone is unlocked, they appear at the top. Is this a “feature” or a bug?

Hi there JustinTonation,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand you have some questions about your device after updating to iOS 16. First, it is expected for Notifications to show at the bottom on your Lock Screen. Read more here: View and respond to notifications on iPhone - Apple Support

For the Settings icon issue, we see from your screenshot that Wi-Fi shows up from within Settings. If you tap on that, are you able to open Settings? If you restart your iPhone, do you see Settings? For help with restarting your iPhone, check out: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

Lastly, where did you have it located before updating your iOS version?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Best regards.

I solved my problems although it was through much research, trial and error and blind luck. The notifications are shown at the bottom of the lock screen by deign. Probably because you can swipe up to unlock your phone, so the gesture makes sense.

The Settings was a little stranger as I did not make the change that caused the issue. The Home Screen with the Settings icon was hidden.
