Apple ID showing incorrect phone number on iPhone

I bought my iPhone second hand. In the Apple ID I have two numbers, one correct one from my old iPhone 5 and one incorrect (unrecognised) one from the current iPhone 7. How do I edit, change or delete the unknown one? It has been pointed out that friends receive messages from the unknown number. Thanks
